The water we consume may contain bacteria, viruses and parasites that may cause diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, fever, and sometimes even death.

Water coolers as well as mineral water bottles are bacteria incubators because they do not use chlorine which prevents them.
Examples:

• In September 2020, residents of Lake Jackson, Texas, have been warned about using tap water after a deadly brain-eating microbe was found in the city’s public water supply. Tests confirmed the presence of Naegleria fowleri in the system. The amoeba can cause an infection of the brain, which is usually fatal.
  An investigation into the city’s water supply began after a six-year-old boy contracted the microbe and died.
• Cryptosporidiosis and giardiasis are two common gastro-intestinal diseases caused by swallowing water polluted with cryptosporidium or giardia parasites that reach the intestines.
• Legionella Bacteria

This violent bacteria strikes under three conditions:

1. Scale
2. Rust
3. High temperature

An example is the outbreak of the Legionella bacteria
in the city of Flint, Michigan in the U.S. in April 2018,
where hundreds of people were hospitalized,
12 died and pregnancies ended due to the violent bacteria.

Water travels a long way and flows in many pipes until it enters your home.
In the U.S. water pipes and fittings are made of metal that may contain: iron, zinc, copper, lead and plastic. These pipes and fittings may even be 120 years old.

Scientists examined dozens of tap water samples from countries around the world. The findings were disturbing because 83% of the samples were found to be contaminated with plastic fibers.
